Denise is an internationally respected writer, researcher and
speaker. She most recently contributed to a new book: You Can Do
IT! The Merit Badge Handbook for Grown-up Girls (Chronicle
Books, May 2005). She is also the co-author of two best-selling
business books, Technology with Curves: Women Reshaping the
Digital Landscape (HarperCollins, 2000) and Innovation Nation:
Canadian Leadership from Java to Jurassic Park (Wiley & Sons,
2002). A former faculty member of Ryerson University (Toronto),
Denise helped to launch the Diversity and IT Institute in the
School of Information Technology Management (ITM) and conducted
award-winning multidisciplinary research on gender and
technology.
Denise has spent the last 15 years keeping professional track of
women’s evolution as digital citizens and is a co-founder and
former President of
Wired Woman
Toronto, a non-profit educational and networking
organization. Denise has a M.Ed. in Technology from Harvard
University and studied gender and technology at MIT. She
currently sits on advisory boards for Women in Film and
Television (WIFT), the Cultural Human Resources Council of
Canada (CHRC), and Advocates for Community-based Training and
Education for Women (ACTEW). Denise also served on the Prime
Minister’s Taskforce for Women Entrepreneurs and has been
invited to represent Canada at many international forums
including the Canadian Consulate General in Atlanta and Women in
Business Trade Mission for the London High Commission, UK. |
