I grew up in New York and we had the cutest golden retriever. We loved her so much, and I know she was always a happy dog and so loving.
But I always felt bad for her during the cold and snowy winter months. It's just no so fun to go outside then, if you know what I mean. Our dog loved to go outside and go with us on walks. but, in the winter, especially at night, she would be in and out very fast.
Just like we prefer the warmer weather, so do most dogs. And, they especially dislike the colder weather as their paws feel it (and they sometimes get hurt by the salt). So moving to South Florida is a real benefit.
One of my favorite spots in South Florida is Boca Raton. It's a beautiful place to live - right on the ocean, beautiful homes, great shopping and restaurants.
But, importantly, to me, it's also a dog friendly place to live. They have lots of pet friendly condos and pet friendly spots. They have dog parks and there are even some spots on the beach where they allow dogs.
When you are in Boca, you will notice tons of cute little dogs everywhere you go. Many carry them in their doggie pocketbooks. You'll even find dog friendly restaurants in Boca.
If you're thinking about moving to Florida with your furry friend, know that it's a great place for all of you live. And, know that your pooch be in good company and maybe even make some friends at the dog parks...or maybe just on your regular walks.
